The Australian Broadcasting Commission’s  Propaganda -  War by other means.

The Australian Broadcasting Commission (ABC) has long had a stable or cell(s) of Marxists and fellow travelers who, despite doctrinal difference, are bound together by a dominant theme: Anti-Americanism.

Listeners of Radio National recently heard such polished items  as: “so-called terrorists; and the so called war against terrorism”.

An official internal memo to presenters circulated recently warned against: “derogatory on-air comments about the Taliban regime”.

On Melbourne (Vic) ABC radio, replying to a listener who queried the WTC terrorist attacks and whether   some: “right wing group within the US (military) itself did this?”  Virginia Trilli stated: “I think its true to say though that no matter what you  might think of the FBI and other intelligence services in America, if they had any inkling of that, I think something of that would have come out by now. I don’t rule it out; I think its quite possibility.”

Anti-Americanism,  is so pervasive that it is dominant orthodoxy within the ABC. This state of affairs would be of no consequence in any other contex as the ABC’s ratings are ludicrously low.

The ABC was regarded by many critics as an anti-Western and leftist propaganda asset during the Cold War and can be always be relied on to apologize for third world despotisms under cover of promoting ‘community debate”.

However, the ABC is often depicted as “setting the agenda for debate” and widely perceived as representing “elite opinion” in Australia.”. The collapse of the Soviet Union has certainly not dimmed their anti-US ardor and in this context it is clear that the ABC sees broadcasting as war by other means, that is, anti –US propaganda broadcast without genuine right of reply.
